ADHD assessment with me goes beyond a checklist. My process includes a clinical interview, standardized rating scales, history review, and cognitive/executive functioning measures (if applicable), since ADHD symptoms overlap significantly with anxiety, depression, trauma, and autism. Getting the distinction right matters for treatment.

If you are going to complete an evaluation, I want you to leave with as many answers as possible. That’s why I do a thorough and comprehensive evaluation. Shortcuts can lead to inaccurate results, I want you to have as much information as possible.

You may be nervous about doing testing. I find many people who decide to complete the assessment process actually feel relief.

  • Clinical interview

  • IQ testing

  • ADHD symptom focused interview

  • Executive Functioning tests in-office (i.e. D-KEFS, WMS)

  • Self-report test(s) of personality/mental health

  • Symptom-specific tests (i.e. ADHD symptoms, social functioning, executive functioning) with collateral reports

  • If I have your permission, I’ll review available school, medical, and any mental health records that may help improve the accuracy of the report

  • If I have your permission, I’ll also talk with other important people as needed (therapists, doctors, close relatives, etc.)

  • A 1.5hr feedback session to review findings and recommendations

  • Copy of final report with all findings and recommendations

  • Both! Adult ADHD assessment is a significant part of my practice, especially for those who compensated well enough to avoid diagnosis growing up.

  • It could be, inattentive-type ADHD often looks nothing like the sterotypical hyperactive presentation. Plus, it’s frequently missed, especially in adults.

  • While screenings are valuable for quick ways of identifying red flags, they can also be misleading without context. A child might look like they have ADHD when they are just stressed, hurt, or tired. An adult with ADHD symptoms might never have been diagnosed because they found ways to compensate until work or parenting demands made those strategies fall short. Only a full assessment can distinguish between ADHD and other possible explanations, ensuring individuals receive appropriate care.

  • It typically takes approximately 3 to 4 hours of in-person testing. This includes the interactive tests and the clinical interview. I typically schedule 1-2 testing days, 2-3 hours each in the mornings. I aim to have feedback within 2 weeks of the last testing day.

  • $2,500. I can provide detailed superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients receive 50-80% reimbursement from their insurance company.

  • An ADHD assessment alone does not guarantee academic or workplace accmodations. Schools, employers, and testing boards require proof of specific functional limitations and a direct link between your diagnosis and the requested support, governed by standards like the ADA. They will make the ultimate decision on what is or is not granted, but I can support you by increasing your chances by making data-informed recommendations.
